Bracco Imaging SpA, part of Bracco Group, is one of the world leading companies in the imaging agent business. Headquartered in Milan, Italy, Bracco Imaging develops manufactures and markets imaging agent solutions for in vivo diagnostic imaging. Bracco Imaging products are available for all key modalities, including: X-Ray Imaging (conventional X-Ray and Computed Tomography-CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasound Imaging, and Nuclear Medicine Imaging trough radioactive tracers. Approx. 350 employees in 2014 were engaged in Research & Development, Medical and Regulatory Activities, through a leading edge international effort in two Research Centres located in Colleretto Giacosa (IT) and Geneva (CH), each one highly specialized in different areas and techniques in diagnostic imaging. The Italian Research Centre performs all the pre-clinical studies for the chemical and pharmaceutical development of X-Ray, Optical and Photoacustic and MRI contrast agents in solid or injectable dosage forms.
The Bracco Research Center (Centro Ricerche Bracco-CRB) in Colleretto Giacosa (Turin, Italy) has a specific expertise in the field of MRI, Optical Imaging and CT contrast agents, performing all the pre-clinical studies for the chemical and pharmaceutical development of X-Ray, Optical and Photo-acoustic and MRI contrast agents in solid or injectable dosage forms. The center is widely equipped to perform chemical and pharmaceutical development of new contrast agents. The research group has a solid expertise in the design, synthesis, and analytical characterization, in vitro and in vivo testing of new contrast agents as small molecules or nanoparticles, as documented by publications and patents in the field.
The Medical & Regulatory Affairs Function, based in Milan, provides medical and regulatory competencies to maintain Bracco Imaging’s products on the global market and to verify both safety and efficacy of new products and formulations for clinical use.
Luisa Poggi, Ph.D. obtained her Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences at the University f Florence in January 2003. Since 2008 she has been working in Bracco Imaging SpA. She iscurrently the Discovery Intelligence Manager in the Bracco Imaging R&D Center based in Colleretto Giacosa (TO). She has an extensive expertise in the development and use of new and existing contrast agents for different Imaging Modalities (X-ray, MRI, PET, Optical Imaging). She also earns a Project Management Professional certificatiom from the Project Management Institute. She is responsible for the scientific activities of the SPCCT project that will be carried on in Bracco Imaging SpA.
